Funding our Environment is Investing in our Future
Last year's report card on South Australia's State of the Environment showed serious declines in our natural health, with 90% of indicators in a poor or very poor state.
Yet despite clear these warning signs, funding for the environment has been falling alarmingly over the last few years - currently receiving only 2.24% of the total budget.
This is set to drop even further, with savage cuts in the range of 40% to the Government agency that looks after our natural spaces forecast this year.
This will have a devastating impact on expert knowledge and essential services needed to protect our environment.
